Is your child at one of these  stages?

  • Stage 1, the child emphasizes the first consonant of a word (such as the c  in card) and writes the letter C.
  • Stage 2, the child emphasizes the first and last consonants (such as c  and d in card) and writes CD.
  • Stage 3, the child emphasizes first, last and interior consonants (such  as c, r, and d in card) and writes CRD.
  • Stage 4, the child emphasizes first, last and interior consonants, and  the vowel place holder (right vowel place but wrong vowel) and writes  CERD.(1)

Our phonics approach can help a child progress to recognising the  consonant, vowel and blend sounds to correctly spell CARD.
